Pre-requisites

Please check that you meet the requirements below before enrolling on this course:

Trainees must hold a recognised trade qualification in plumbing and heating. A working knowledge of central heating, hot and cold water systems is essential. As well as holding Water Regulations or Water Byelaws.

The course is for experienced plumbing and heating operatives

Course Overview:

This one-day course provides the knowledge and skills required to carry out legionella risk assessments in domestic and commercial water systems, helping to comply with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Approved Code of Practice (L8) and relevant legislation.

 

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand what Legionella bacteria are and how they pose a risk
  • Identify potential sources of legionella in water systems
  • Learn how to conduct thorough risk assessments
  • Develop effective control and management plans
  • Understand legal responsibilities under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and HSE L8 guidelines
  • Know how to maintain safe water systems to prevent legionella growth

Assessment:

  • Written test or practical assessment to demonstrate understanding and competency

BPEC accredited certificate

On successful completion, participants receive a BPEC accredited certificate recognised by industry and regulatory bodies as evidence of competence in legionella risk assessment.

A few of our courses don’t require qualifications, like the Solar PV Roof Installations – Practical Course, but it does help if you have some relevant experience.

We teach all of our theory courses at our training centre in Newcastle, our state of the art facility is a great place to learn! Class sizes are kept small so we can deliver focused, practical learning. You’re provided with all of the course materials, and any equipment needed to complete the course. 

Our practical courses are taught on site, and you get the opportunity to partake in live installations. If you enrol on a practical course, we will contact you to confirm the location.
