The Heat Pump Systems Installer training course is designed for qualified plumbers, heating  engineers, oil engineers or gas engineers who wish to install Heat Pump Systems and hold a recognised NVQ Level 2/3 or earlier equivalent qualification. In addition, if not included within the formal qualification, the individual MUST hold Water Regulations/Bylaws certificates.

A pre-requisite recommendation is BPECs Low Temperature Hot Water Heating Systems (LTHWHS)

Course Overview:

This comprehensive 3-day course provides essential training on the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of Domestic Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs). The course combines theory with practical hands-on experience to ensure participants gain confidence and competence in working with this environmentally friendly heating technology.

BPEC accredited certificate

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a BPEC accredited certificate, recognised industry-wide as proof of competency in Domestic Air Source Heat Pump installation and maintenance.

The majority of our courses require existing qualifications for you to enrol on them. A few of our courses don’t require qualifications, like the Solar PV Roof Installations – Practical Course, but it does help if you have some relevant experience.

We teach all of our theory courses at our training centre in Newcastle, our state of the art facility is a great place to learn! Class sizes are kept small so we can deliver focused, practical learning. You’re provided with all of the course materials, and any equipment needed to complete the course. 

Our practical courses are taught on site, and you get the opportunity to partake in live installations. If you enrol on a practical course, we will contact you to confirm the location.

Yes, you will receive a certificate after your course. If you successfully complete one of our BPEC courses, you will receive a BPEC accredited certificate. 

Our non-accredited courses reward you with a Certificate of Completion, issued by Future Group Renewable Training. You can use this as evidence of competence on your CV.

Cancellations made 21 days or more before the course start date may be eligible for a refund, subject to written confirmation.

Cancellations made less than 21 days before the course start date are non-refundable.

Government Grant

The Heat Training Grant offers up to £500 to subsidise the heat pump course only. The grant can not be used against other courses.

We will claim the funding grant on your behalf as long as you have met the eligibility criteria.

The eligibility criteria:

  • You work for a business with 250 employees or fewer, you are a sole trader, or you are unemployed
  • You, or the business you work for, are certified by a competent person scheme for heating and hot water installations. Examples include: APHC, BESCA, Blue Flame Certification, Gas Safe Register, Certsure/NIC EIC, HETAS, NAPIT, OFTEC or Stroma
  • You, or the business you work for, haven’t already received more than £315,000 in government subsidies over the last 3 years
  • Trainees must be based in England
